Nissan Note: looking after the e-Power and the regular models
Administrator
Two very different cars share the Note name. Know which one you have before booking a service.
Note e-Power (2016 onwards)
An electric motor drives the wheels. The 1.2 litre petrol engine only charges the battery, so there is no CVT or gearbox to service. It still needs regular care:
- Engine oil and filter at the interval in your manual, often every 5,000–10,000 km. The engine runs at varying times, so don't assume it needs less care.
- Coolant: the inverter and motor have their own cooling. Have both coolant levels checked at each service.
- 12 V battery: if it's weak, the car may not switch on at all, even with a charged hybrid battery.
- Choose a garage with experience and a scan tool for e-Power. Some garages treat it like an ordinary Note.
Regular Note (petrol with CVT)
- Engine oil every 5,000 km in town traffic.
- CVT fluid about every 40,000 km with Nissan's specified fluid. Whining, shuddering or the engine revving without the car picking up speed are warning signs.
- Some versions have a supercharged engine (DIG-S). Use the oil grade in the manual and don't stretch the oil changes.
Both
- Brake pads, tyres and suspension like any car; check them every 10,000 km.
- Keep the cabin filter clean for good AC.
